From Memory to Creation – Rikmat Haim (Fabric of Life)

About the Project

The commemoration project, “Rikmat Haim” (Fabric of Life), was created to foster solidarity, continuity, and hope. It connects bereaved families—both military and civilian—who lost loved ones in the October 7th attack and the ensuing Israel-Hamas war, with artists in a collaborative process of remembrance and creation.
The project brings together participants from across the country, representing the diverse fabric of Israeli society.

In the face of such a profound tragedy, it is vital to dedicate time and compassionate attention to telling—and hearing—the stories of each and every one of the lives lost.
Our mission is to harness the power of creativity, writing, documentation, and art to commemorate and share their rich and vibrant lives. Each of our loved ones was a world unto themselves, and we are committed to ensuring their stories continue to shine for generations to come.

To transform memory into a living, evolving creation, we will:

  • Train artists as Memory Designers;
  • Build meaningful connections between bereaved families and artists;
  • Support the process of remembrance, documentation, and
    storytelling—offering opportunities for connection, contribution, and healing; and
  • Share the resulting life stories and works of art in both a physical exhibition and an online platform.
The tremendous loss that has shaken Israeli society since October 7, 2023, deserves to be honored through works inspired by the dreams, aspirations, and lived experiences of the victims of the attack and the war.
